In early 2023, I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, which is a rare, incurable blood and bone marrow cancer. After two years of chemotherapy, two hospital stays, a stem cell transplant, and CAR T-Cell therapy, it is finally in remission. The average remission time for Multiple Myeloma patients after CAR T-Cell therapy is two years, and the average Multiple Myeloma patient goes back and forth between remission and relapse multiple times during their lifetime.
A Multiple Myeloma diagnosis used to be a death sentence, with a life expectancy of only three years after diagnosis. But now, because of advances in treatment made possible by extensive cancer research, some Multiple Myeloma patients have lived 30+ years with the disease.
One of the cruelest, most unnecessary, inexcusable, and unforgivable things that trump has done during his second term is his massive cuts in funding for cancer research and treatment. This also includes cuts in cancer research and treatment for children, which is beyond cruel and inhumane.
This makes public donations all that more crucial. Below is a list of organizations that fight cancer in the form of treatment, research, and/or assistance to cancer patients. It is not a comprehensive list, and I will add to it over time. But these cancer fighting organizations can definitely use our help. Please consider making a donation to one or more of these organizations, and thanks for your support.
Love, Compassion, Empathy, and Respect,
Jimmy Cooper
